History

Faculty of Food Technology was open in 2004 to train specialists-technologists in production and processing of agricultural produce (e.g. produce of plant husbandry and animal husbandry). There are three special Chairs to train graduates and two Chairs to provide general professional training.

History

The Agronomy Faculty is one of the oldest Departments of the Academy. Its history is closely related to the names of faculty members and scientists such as K.A.Timiryazev, I.A.Stebut, D.N.Pryanishnikov, A.G.Doyarenko, V.R.Williams, N.I.Vavilov, and I.S.Shatilov. I.A.Stebut was the first Dean of the Faculty.

Since the time when the Petrovskaya Academy was established a large scientific potential has been accumulated at the Academy, allowing the further development and improvement of both training process and fundamental research.
During its 140-year history many scientific schools have been formed at Timiryazevskaya Academy with many of them recognized as classic ones. The Academy has provided the world with the whole constellation of great scientists and outstanding personalities.

The Institute of Extended Professional Education “Higher School of Management, Agro-industrial Complex” has been established to ensure the quality of training, re-training and advanced training of the University specialists.
Its activities addressed at retraining and advanced training of faculty of Higher Agricultural Institutions and colleges; at training, retraining and advanced training of specialists and managers of agro-industrial complex; and at ensuring a sociologic monitoring of agrarian education quality. Other activities include the School of Agribusiness (MBA program), higher education on the basis of vocational-technical education, and continuous education in accordance with a project “Adult Education”.
